Palmetto Palace provides free meals for Hospitality Day
Tuesday, December 27, 2011
By THE MOULTRIE NEWS

Families of the critically ill who travel more than 25 miles to receive care at local Charleston healthcare facilities can now focus on their loved one's healing instead of their next meal, transportation or overnight stay.

Palmetto Palace kicked off its second annual Hospitality Day on Thursday, Nov. 3 with 300 free lunches for families of critically ill patients hospitalized at Roper St. Francis Healthcare hospitals, East Cooper Medical, Ralph Johnson VA Medical Center and Trident Health System. Students from the College of Charleston Hospitality and Tourism department and volunteers from the Palmetto Palace gathered at 11 a.m. in the Opal Room of the Charleston Marriott, 170 Lockwood Blvd., and packed 300 lunches that were distributed to families at these local health facilities.

Each boxed lunch included a sandwich provided by California Dreaming restaurant, a drink donated by Pepsi Co., snacks from Frito-Lay, fruit from Ebenezer AME Church Missionary Department and encouragement books given by Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in North Charleston.
