What: The 88 Club of Mount Pleasant meets at the Okra Grill

When: The first and third Wednesday of each month.

What: Free motivational business seminar offered by Charleston County's Small Business Enterprise Program.

When: Wednesday, Jan. 18, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Where: Lonnie Hamilton, III Public Services Building, 4045 Bridge View Dr., North Charleston.

Details: The seminar, "Strategic Planning: Begin with Your Goals," will feature motivational speaker Shirlie Taylor, a professional business coach and founder of Business Success Dynamics. Taylor will cover a broad range of cogent small-business and personal success strategies. Space is limited and attendees must pre-register at www.charlestoncounty.org/sbe. What: Community of I'On Artists meeting.

Where: Creek Club in I'On Community

What: East Cooper Newcomers Club monthly luncheon meeting.

Details: The women of the East Cooper Newcomers Club invite members, guests, new residents and recent retirees to attend their monthly luncheon meeting. What: "Journaling your Jewish identity," a KKBE Sisterhood small group luncheon.

What: January meeting of the Isle of Palms Garden Club

When: Thursday, Jan. 19, 7 p.m.

Where: Exchange Club, 201 Palm Blvd.

Details: The January meeting of the Isle of Palms Garden Club is Jan.19 at the Exchange Club 201 Palm Blvd. Social hour is scheduled at 6.30 and meeting will begin at 7 p.m. The speaker is Browyn Santos, the community representative for the Charleston City environment Management. What: School of the Arts presents The Music Man

When: Performances at 6:30 p.m. nightly on Thurs, Fri., Sat., Jan 19, 20, 21 and Jan 26, 27, 28.

Where: Charleston County School of the Arts, Rose Maree Myers Theater, 5109 Enterprise St., North Charleston.

Details: The cast consists of more than 60 high school actors, singers and dancers, capturing the iconic early 20th-century American tapestry. The show features a 28-piece orchestra under the baton of Suzanne Reed, which promises to be "brisk, fun and a lively woven score," to support these characters and its lovely story. "This show is really representing the tradition of Americana both in an artistic sense as well as in a human way," says director Megan Link. What: The Music Matters! Concert Series will present its free concert" "StringExtravaganza"

When: Thursday, Jan, 19 at 6:30 p.m.

Where: Franke at Seaside, Rodenberg Chapel, 1885 Rifle Range Road.

Details: This free concert is open to the public, and will showcase local, advanced high school musicians playing classical pieces for cello, violin, and harp including works by Bach, Barber, Saint-Saens, Wieniawski, Vieuxtemps, and Villa-Lobos. This advocacy project is run by local 11th grade Girl Scout, Abby Kent, to raise community awareness to support live music and the local programs that make this possible. What: East Cooper Entrepreneurial Women plan several events for the month of January.

When: Jan 19 at Boone Hall Market, 8:30a-9:30a led by Denise Deaton, ECEW Member Skill Presentation (10 minutes): Kimberly Ritter, Kimberly Ritter, Your Lifetime Real Estate Expert, Carolina One Topic: Excelling at Relationship Marketing and Jan 24 at Laura Alberts on Daniel Island, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. led by Laura Kelly. Networking Topic: Motivation for the New Year: Get motivated for 2012 and share with the group.

What: Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim Reform Jewish Congregation will host a Shabbat service East of the Cooper.

When: Jan. 20, 7 p.m.

Where: Franke at Seaside, 1885 Rifle Range Road, in Mount Pleasant.

Details: The service will be led by Shula Holtz and David Jaffee and followed by an Oneg. What: Charleston Chapter of NAPO, National Association of Professional Organizers and Habitat for Humanity document shredding event.

When: Jan. 21, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Where: Habitat for Hamanity ReStore, 469 Long Point Rd.

Details: The Charleston Chapter of NAPO, National Association of Professional Organizers, celebrates GO Month (Get Organized) every January by spreading awareness to the communities through a variety of programs. This year, NAPO Charleston is once again partnering with Shred-It and Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Mount Pleasant to spread the awareness for starting out the New Year clutter free by sponsoring a local community shred event. This will be a great opportunity to clear out your clutter and donate your unwanted items to Habitat for Humanity and to shred those sensitive documents you need to dispose. There will be a maximum of five boxes or bags per person. Daisys Place retriever rescue will also be here with dogs up for adoption and they will be selling hot dogs to raise money.

What: Fourth annual Total Health Fair, a lifestyle and wellness expo.

When: Saturday, Jan. 21 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, Jan. 22 from noon to 4 p.m.

Where: Omar Shrine Convention Center, 176 Patriots Point Rd.

Details: Total Health Fair is a free community event that will increase awareness of all forms of healthcare and healthy living opportunities that are available to all residents of the Lowcountry. More than 80 healthy living businesses and several area non-profit organizations will be represented at the event. Season eight's Biggest Loser contestant, Antoine Dove, will be in attendance giving talks on meal-planning and setting weight loss goals and showing a live food preparation demo. There will also be a blood drive with the American Red Cross on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Those who donate blood will be entered into a raffle for many great prizes. Free parking available.

What: USCG Auxiliary, Flotilla 12-6 Boating Safety Course

When: Saturday, Jan. 21, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Where: Daniel Island Library.

Details: This one day class will cover subjects like: underway preparations, legal requirements, navigation rules/charts, boating emergencies, operating your boat safely, federal/state regulations, and enjoying water sports. A fee of $30 per individual or $35 per family (up to six) applies to cover materials. Contact Phil Poole at 336-312-2158.
