The 2010 July/August issue of Realtor Magazine, a publication of the National Association of Realtors, has released the 2009 Top 100 Companies in the U.S. ranked by Transaction Sides and Sales Volume. Carolina One Real Estate & Mortgage was ranked number 68 by the publication for the number of homes listed and sold by the company in 2009, and number 70 relative to sales volume ($1.2 billion). No other company in South Carolina was listed in the Top 100.

Carolina One Real Estate is the leading residential services firm in the Metro Charleston market, handling more than 30 percent of all residential sales transactions as of the end of 2009.

Edward Jones

For the fifth year out of the past six, financial services firm Edward Jones ranks highest in investor satisfaction with full-service brokerage firms, according to the J.D. Power and Associates 2010 Full Service Investor Satisfaction Study, announced Ross Evans.

The study measures overall investor satisfaction with full service investment firms based on seven factors: investment advisor, portfolio performance, account information, account offerings, commissions and fees, website and problem resolution. The J.D. Power and Associates study found that Edward Jones "performed particularly well across the two highest-weighted factors: Investment Advisor and Investment Performance."

Edward Jones' overall score climbed 10 points over last year, when it also was ranked highest among the 12 largest firms rated.

Edward Jones ranked highest in investor satisfaction by J.D. Power and Associates in 2009, from 2005 through 2007, and in a tie in 2002, when the study began. Edward Jones in Canada twice ranked highest in the J.D. Power and Associates Canadian Full Service Investor Satisfaction Study.

D.I. Rentals

Daniel Island Rentals, formerly known as Beresford Creek Property Management, is celebrating its fourth year on Daniel Island helping renters find a place to call home. Founded in 2006 by Hank Hanna and Dan Gowdown, Daniel Island Rentals started with one rental property and today manages approximately 200 properties on Daniel Island.

The growth of Daniel Island Rentals and subsequent interest in their services from residents in other parts of the Lowcountry prompted them to establish a sister company, Charleston Rental Properties, which manages rentals off of Daniel Island. This company has been in business just under a year and is rapidly growing. Charleston Rental Properties currently manages 50 rental properties off Daniel Island, and they expect to have 80 by the end of this year and see continued growth in the future throughout the greater Charleston area.

Qdoba Mexican Grill

Qdoba Mexican Grill, franchise-owned by 316 Investments of Indianapolis and operated by Adobo LLC, is opening a new restaurant in Mount Pleasant at 1333 Theatre Dr. in the Mount Pleasant Towne Centre. 316 Investments owns 26 stores between Indiana and South Carolina. Qdoba's official opening is planned for early October. Qdoba's arrival means 20 new full- and part-time jobs for the area.

"Qdoba is more like an Artisanal kitchen, where fresh ingredients are handcrafted to create a flavorful entrée," says Director of Marketing Brent Higgins. "We believe the best ingredients are fresh and natural ones. Consequently, we don't use frozen or bagged products. We believe inventive recipes aren't just for expensive restaurants."

Design studio

Charleston native Sarah Early has been working on a line of stationery designs since graduating from the University of Georgia with a degree in Fine Arts in May of 2009. An almost non-existent job market forced her to "get creative" with both her time and her income, and that's how dodeline design was born. In July, dodeline design released a line of stationery now being carried by four local boutiques: Celadon in Mount Pleasant, Lesesne and Mac & Murphy in downtown Charleston, and Open House in South Windermere.

Dr. Cara is passionate about providing excellent pediatric dental care in a supportive manner as well as a commitment to provide children with a positive dental experience. Dr. Cara DeLeon is a native of Augusta, Georgia. She attended the University of Georgia, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics. After college she completed dental school at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. During her time at Medical College of Georgiam. She was awarded the International College of Dentists Leadership Award, Georgia Dental Association Outstanding Leader Award, Public Health Award and inducted into the service based honor society, Alpha Upsilon Phi. Dr. Cara is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association and state and local dental societies.
