Wando graduate Khailey Walsh signed her letter of intent to swim for Mars Hill College, which is a DII school located just outside of Asheville, N.C. and competes in the Appalachian Conference.
This year's team finished 3rd in the conference out of 14 member schools. Walsh also had offers from Lenoir Rhyne University in Hickory, N.C. and Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Fla.
Walsh chose Mars Hill over those two schools because they are offering her three different scholarships for swimming, art and academics. She is majoring in Graphic Design while at Mars Hill.
Walsh swam for Wando this past season, where she was awarded the Rookie of the Year award (her senior year was the only year she attended Wando).
She also swam for Snee Farm the past ten years and has represented them in CCAA's City
Meet the past five years competing, on both the team's mixed medley and freestyle relays in addition to her individual backstroke event where she most recently finished seventh.
She finished fifth in breast and fly, sixth in IM and led off her free relay which won 1st overall in the race and was the number-one age group in the city as well.
