Sophomore Ben Diebold from Wando High School, was honored at the annual Ambassadors of Economic Development Awards Ceremony during Industry Appreciation Week. Ben was saluted for being named a 2010 Young Entrepreneur by the SC Council on Economic Education (SCCEE).
Honored along with Ben were Dorchester 2 students Ashlynn Russo, a sixth-grader at Rollings Middle School of the Arts, and Jade-Alexis Smith, a seventh-grader at Alston Middle School. Kate Brady, a seventh-grader at Wren Middle School in Anderson District 1 was also recognized.
The Young Entrepreneur award, sponsored by the SC Research Authority and SC Launch, was established in 2004 by SCCEE as a way to recognize outstanding students for their accomplishments in entrepreneurship. The students will be honored again in late April at SCCEE's annual awards luncheon and receive a $200 cash prize.
