‘I was hungry’
[Subheading]
Sunday, July 11, 2010
A 19-year-old girl strolled into a local gas station and decided because she was hungry, she should just steal what she wanted. Oddly enough she wanted two packs of coffee creamer, a cereal bar and a honey bun. But the clerk saw her do it, detained her and called police. And the girl was incredulous that she would be charged for stealing an 89 cent honey bun.
She said she only took it because she was hungry and swore she paid for the other two items she had. The officer then asked her why she didn’t just pay for the honey bun too and she said she didn’t want to use her debit card for such a small purchase.
But the clerk clarified everything and told the officer that he didn’t say anything when she took the small coffee creamers because they are usually free when you buy coffee. But she did not buy coffee. He said she slunk around the store turning her back to him and was quite obviously stuffing things in her purse.
When police arrived, she was at the register and an officer asked her if she forgot to pay for anything. She said no and the officer asked if he could look in her bag. That’s when she said she did forget to pay for something and pulled out the honey bun. She said she did it because she has an eating disorder.
Oh well, off to jail she went.
