•A: It is important to discuss this with your doctor first, especially if medication has been recommended. In general, however, blood pressure can be lowered by:
1)Losing weight (particularly if your body mass index is greater than 25)
2)Exercising regularly (ideally, at least 30 minutes per day)
3)Limiting salt intake (less than 2000mg per day if possible)
4)Drinking alcohol in moderation (no more than 2 drinks per day for men, 1 drink per day for women)
