Two neighbors are at odds with one another because one neighbor’s trees are growing all over the other’s fence and tearing it up. An easy fix, most would assume, but no, these two would rather argue about it. The lady said she offered her neighbor the opportunity to cut them down if he wanted but he was not happy with that arrangement. He wanted her to cut them down.
When she would not he started taking pictures of her house and stood on her property to do it and then sent the photos to the town code enforcement officer to see if he would find her in violation of anything.
The woman explained to police that she rents the house out and her tenants are Hispanic and on Memorial Day they accidently hung the American Flag upside down. She said her neighbor took pictures of this.
His side of the story is that he complained because they are doing house renovations and the trash is being placed in the street which is a hazard. He said he understood that this was a civil issue between them and the only resolution he would be happy with is if she cut down the trees.
In retaliation the woman said she wanted her neighbor placed on trespass notice from her property.
The officer did as she requested but advised the woman that she could ease tensions by taking care of the trees on her property and she became agitated and told the officer that the trees were not her problem and that the fence was on her property and it should not be.
The officer assured her he was only making a suggestion and was in no way telling her what to do.
Thinking everything was settled the officer went back to the station. A short time later the male neighbor came into thee police department with his own complaint. He said the woman’s husband was in the yard with a metal detector trying to find the property line. Against the advise of his wife he decided to go outside and just show the husband the property line.
A screaming match ensued and the husband was cussing the neighbor and told him to go back inside his house. The neighbor asked the police to document the incident in case he needed it in the future.
