Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Fletcher Carter, IV, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Catherine Carter, to Robert Martin Arthur, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Lee Arthur of Spartanburg, South Carolina.

The wedding is planned for June 19 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Carter, a graduate of the University of South Carolina, is a frith grade teacher with Charleston County School District. Arthur graduated from Elon University and is employed as a sales analyst coordinator with Blanchard Machinery of Columbia, South Carolina
