Each year ClubZ! In-Home Tutoring Services sponsors a nationwide Annual Achievement Award to deserving students in grades 5-12. Six winners were chosen from around the United States, one of whom was Sarah Lyles Long an eighth grader from Moultrie Middle School. Sarah was nominated by her teacher Ms. Currie .
Currie said, 'Sarah Lyles has shown leadership in my honors science class throughout the year. She takes it upon herself to motivate others and to encourage everyone to try their best. At the age of 5 Sarah Lyles suffered a stroke creating physical disabilities that confine her to a wheelchair. This disability might have offered another child the opportunity to makes excuses for academic responsibilities. However, Sarah Lyles never stops for a moment. She works hard all day at school and then returns home to continue here quest for knowledge.'
On Monday, Jan. 25, Lyles was awarded an Annual Achievement Award Certificate by Stephanie Wilson, owner/area director of ClubZ! Tutoring Charleston along with a check for $500. A presentation was later made at the monthly Charleston County School Board meeting.
