Deadly shooting in Mount Pleasant

A deadly shooting occurred yesterday near Center Street and 1511 Ben Sawyer Blvd. The shooting happened at Marsh Grass Apartments. According to Mount Pleasant Police Department spokesman Stan Gragg, one person has been killed and one is at MUSC and a third is at East Cooper Hospital. He said one victim was able to run almost to the old Moultrie News office at 1558 Ben Sawyer Blvd. before collapsing. Gragg said police were notified of the shooting via multiple 911 calls.
Whitesides Elementary, Moultrie Middle, First Baptist and Mount Pleasant Academy schools were on administrative lock down as a precautionary measure. The schools had regular dismissal times.
Gragg said that upon officer’s arrival, two victims were discovered in the area, the female victim had an apparent gunshot wound to the chest and the male victim had injuries consistent with an assault. A subsequent search of apartment 1511 led officers to the discovery of a third male victim who had succumbed to a gunshot wound.
The suspects are described as three black males, in their early 20s:
Suspect #1 is approximately 200 pounds.
Suspect #2 is 5’9” approximately 185 pounds, short and stocky.
Suspect #3 is 6’ approximately 160 pounds, tall, thin, lanky with a thin face, long neck and short cropped hair
The female gunshot victim is being treated at MUSC and is stable condition
Male assault victim was treated and released from East Cooper Hospital
