The big news this week is it is Roctoberfest. This is the second year of this music festival and this year it’s four days starting Friday and going strong until Monday. Brought to you by Dr. Eddie White  and the rest of the crew at Awendaw Green, this festival will present a wide variety of local and regional artist.
Last year, the festival raised money for the Wando Band Program but this year they have widened their scope.
This year, the proceeds will go to the Charleston County Band Instrument Fund. Like the name suggests, this is a fund to help get instruments into the hands of aspiring musicians in the Charleston County Schools.

You can find out more about the festival (ticket info, directions and a full schedule) as well as other happenings at   www.awendawgreen.com .
There’s some big news also for the East Cooper Music Scene as well. Wando student Jasmine Pilling recently expressed to me an interest in music journalism and asked if she could intern with the East Cooper Music Scene. I think it’s great that she is interested and I know that with her help I can provide you, my dear reader, a better column with more info about the goings on in the music scene here in the East Cooper area.
She and I (along with Ozzie the dog) will be taking turns writing the column.
Each week, the person not writing the column will be contributing special features. We both will be working on the club listings in an effort to make them more inclusive and up to date.
