Walter Toler of Mt. Pleasant, husband of Lillian Wilson Toler, passed away Monday, April 19, 2010. The relatives and friends of Walter Toler were invited to attend his Memorial Service at Hibben United Methodist Church in Mount Pleasant on Thursday, April, 22, 2010 at 3:30 p.m.
Burial was private. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, MOUNT PLEASANT CHAPEL. The family received friends on Thursday from 2:00 until 3:15 p.m. in the church sanctuary.
Walter was born March 21, 1926, in Norfolk, VA.  He was son of the late Walter G. Toler and Nellie Mae Rodgers Toler. He was a graduate of McClellanville High School. He served in the Army Transport Corps during World War II. He was a commercial shrimper for over 45 years, the retired owner of Mt. Pleasant Seafood, past owner of the Lorelei Restaurant and In and Out Boat Transport. Mr. Toler was a member of the Confederate Air Force and he loved flying.
Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Lillian; his daughters: Peggy Fitch (Rial), Judy Sturgis (Buddy), Donna Mizell (Stan), and Nita Toler; his sister Norma T. Brunson; grandchildren: Chip Sturgis, Allison Eidson, Kate Mizell, Sarah Fitch, Stephen Fitch, Kerra Toler, and Starr Toler; great grandchildren: Chatham Sturgis and Walker Sturgis. He was preceded in death by his brother Garland Toler and granddaughter Jessica Fitch.
