Gastonia - William Franklin Browne, 57, of 934 Springdale Lane, Gastonia, formerly of Cherryville, died unexpectedly July 29, 2012 at Gaston Memorial Hospital with family by his side.
Frank was born a son of the late Thomas Banks and Jane Hiltzheimer Browne on November 20, 1954 in Gaston Co. N.C. He graduated from Cherryville High School, class of 1973, where he received the superlative "Best Personality." Frank also attended St. Andrew's Presbyterian College, Laurenburg, N.C. Frank's humor, mischievous streak, and loving kisses will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his sisters and brother, Mary Jane West of Cherryville, Margaret Browne of Mount Pleasant, S.C., Robert Browne and wife Mollie of Cherryville, Susan Lewis and husband Art of Bessemer City, Alice Carpenter and husband John of Mooresville, nieces and nephews, Katie Browne Hopkins and C.J., Julie Browne, Artie, Thomas and Will Lewis, David and Savannah Carpenter, Charles West and all his many friends at the Group Home and at Gaston Residential Services.
A memorial service was at 11:00 AM August 1, 2012, at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Bill Lowe officiating. A private burial followed in City Memorial Cemetery. The family received friends from 9:30 - 10:45 AM at the church.
