Mount Pleasant Rotary Soccer Classic set for Saturday

The 29th annual Mount Pleasant Rotary Soccer Classic features several Lowcountry rivalry matchups. Games between Wando and Bishop England girls and boys soccer teams cap off the event, to be held Saturday at Blackbaud Stadium.

Action begins at 10 a.m. with a Fort Dorchester and Summerville boys game. The schedule includes a dose of junior varsity competition, as well as varsity, including three scrimmages involving the JV teams of Ashley Ridge, Wando, Stall and West Ashley.

Palmetto Christian Academy also joins the competitive field with a girls game against North Charleston set for 3 p.m. and a boys game against Stall following at 3:45 p.m.

The Wando girls face Bishop England at 6:20 p.m. and the boys game is tentatively set for 7 p.m.

Tickets cost $4 for adults and children are free. Gates will open at 9 a.m.

The Classic is the Mount Pleasant Rotary Club’s major fundraiser and serves as the kickoff to the high school soccer season. Below is the complete, tentative schedule.


Boys: Fort Dorchester vs. Summerville, boys at 10 a.m.

Girls: Summerville vs. Fort Forchester, girls at 10:40 a.m.

Girls: Ashley Hall vs. Berkeley, girls at 11:20 a.m.

Boys: Stratford vs. Berkeley, boys at 11:55 a.m.

Boys: Ashley Ridge JV vs. Wando JV, boys at 12:50 p.m.

Boys: Stall JV vs. Ashley Ridge JV, boys at 1:30 p.m.

Boys: Stall vs. North Charleston, boys at 2:20 p.m.

Girls: North Charleston vs. Palmetto Christian, girls at 3 p.m.

Boys: Garrett vs. Palmetto Christian, boys at 3:45 p.m.

Girls: West Ashley JV vs. Garrett, girls at 4:30 p.m.

Girls: Stratford vs. Cane Bay, girls at 5:10 p.m.

Boys: Cane Bay vs. Ashley Ridge 2, boys at 5:40 p.m.

Girls: Wando vs. Bishop England, girls at 6:20 p.m.

Boys: Wando vs. Bishop England, boys at 7 p.m.
