Fifteen Wando student athletes signed their National Letters of Intent Wednesday morning for 11 different collegiate athletic programs.

Seven football, six boys soccer, one girls soccer and one girls lacrosse player made for a crowded Palmetto Room at Wando High School, filled with family, friends, coaches and administrators.

Rudder Brown (The Citadel), Chuck Rouse (Wofford), Stevie Wilson (Presbyterian), Nate Wright (Tusculum), Austin Fister (Tusculum), Rashaun Brown (North Greenville) and Chris Leslie (Limestone) round out the Warrior football signees.

Hunter Danna (Memphis), Brock King (College of Charleston), Christian Jablonski (College of Charleston), Erik Clark (College of Charleston), Hamilton Carlin (South Carolina) and Andrew David (South Carolina) represented the Wando boys soccer standouts moving on to the next level.

Girls lacrosse star Kendra Blackstock signed with Columbia College. And, Grace Gore penned her name with the Limestone girls soccer program.

Athletic director Bob Hayes said the 15 athletes at the ceremony represented $2 million of scholarship money.

Other Wando football seniors that have decided to walk on at their respective colleges include Taylor Kimball (The Citadel), Blaine Thompson (Marshall), Ryan Marraccini (Averett) and Bryan Patrick (Berry). Warriors coach Jimmy Noonan said Kimball had scholarship offers from other programs but decided to walk on with the Bulldogs.

Quarterback Christian Hart has an offer from Limestone, Noonan added, but has not made his final decision.

Bishop England

Five Bishop England football standouts signed NLOI Wednesday afternoon in the school’s library.

DeAngelo Stephenson turned down offers from Northern Illinois, Fordham, Newberry and Coastal Carolina to sign with Towson. Nick Theos will join the Naval Academy Prep School. Kevin Herbst signed with Brevard.

Zach Richter chose North Greenville over Newberry. And, Adam Dobbins chose a different weather climate when he penned his name with Wheaton, of Chicago.

Griffie Loy did not receive his appointment to throw shot put for the Naval Academy at the time of the ceremony, so he chose not to participate, coach John Cantey said. Cantey added that it is expected in the mail soon.

Four other Bishop England student athletes were celebrated Wednesday. Ellie James signed on the dotted line to play volleyball at Mercer.

Girls soccer players Taylor Lott and Molly Moriarity signed on with Belmont and Queens, respectively.

Boys soccer player Joseph Terry chose Regis College in Massachusetts for his collegiate playing career.
