The Bulls Bay community is pleased to announce the inaugural Bulls Bay Nature Festival – From the Forest to the Sea.
The festival will be held on Saturday, March 23 with events scheduled from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The hub for the festival is the Sewee Visitor and Environmental Education Center, 5821 Highway 17 North, Awendaw. Festival events will include a Cape Romain fishing derby, family fishing at Sewee pond, a family biathlon along the Swamp Fox/Awendaw Passage, Wambaw Creek paddle, auto tours on Bulls and in the Francis Marion, island and forest nature walks, raptor flying demonstrations, live reptile displays, and a sweet grass basketry workshop instructed by Vera Manigault, Gullah Geechee historian and artisan.
Especially for the kids, there will be nature art walks, and fishing, crabbing, cast netting and archery workshops. Awendaw Green will host local musicians at Sewee throughout the day, opening the musical entertainment with the incredible Lincoln Middle/High School Steel Band.
