The Episcopal Church in South Carolina announced that the East Cooper Episcopalians, who have chosen to remain with the General Episcopal Church, will begin worshipping at the chapel of Hibben United Methodist Church, 690 Coleman Blvd, Mount Pleasant, on Sunday, Feb. 17 at 11 a.m. in the morning.
Speaking to this announcement, The Rt. Rev. Charles vonRosenberg, Provisional Bishop of The Episcopal Church in South Carolina said, “We are deeply grateful to the pastors and the board of Hibben United Methodist Church for making their beautiful chapel available to the many Episcopalians in the East Copper area who wish to remain in Communion with the General Church and The Episcopal Church of South Carolina.”
A three person steering Committee for the continuing Episcopalians of East Copper has been formed and includes Cindy Boatwright of Rivertowne, Kevin Crothers of Mount Pleasant and the Rev. Dan Eckman, also of Mount Pleasant. The committee has begun meeting on a weekly basis in order to seek a process for growth; to cast a budget and to determine short and long term goals. “One of those goals,” said Rev. Eckman, “must revolve around missionary activity. That has to be in our plans for the long run. We are called to be servants of our Lord and we must respond.”
All persons are invited to begin worshipping with the East Cooper Episcopalians on Sunday mornings at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Hibben United Methodist Church.
