Tom Morgan has joined the Mount Pleasant office of AgentOwned Realty. Morgan has 25 years of development experience. In 2004, he began selling property as an on-site agent in Myrtle Beach, eventually becoming a buyer’s agent and earning the realtor image award.

James A. Poole was sworn in as Flotilla Commander for 2013 to lead the Charleston/East Cooper Flotilla 12-6.
During 2012, the Coast Guard Auxiliary flotilla members volunteered more than 15,000 hours in support of the local Coast Guard operations and missions, supplementing their workforce on and off the water - primarily in the local Charleston area. Missions include maritime patrols, radio communication watches, regatta safety zones, search and rescues, promoting and teaching boating safety, free vessel safety checks, community relations and ports and waterways safety.
Auxiliary Flotilla 12-6 members elected Poole in late October to lead the organization through the 2013 calendar year.
He will serve as Flotilla Commander, and is certified as a personal watercraft operator, boat crew member, instructor, vessel examiner, public affairs specialist and recreational boating safety program visitor.
Poole is a retired Naval Officer and works as a Systems Engineer / Program Manager at the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center Atlantic.
Festus Burchfield was elected Vice Flotilla Commander. A retired commercial airline captain, Burchfield holds certifications as boat coxswain, instructor, vessel examiner, aid to navigation verifier, recreational boating safety program visitor and is State Liaison Officer-South Carolina.
Charleston/East Cooper Flotilla 12-6 normally meets the third Thursday of each month from 7 to 9 p.m.

Dr. Langdon Hartsock, associate professor and chairman of the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), was recently awarded the Order of the Silver Crescent from S.C. Governor Nikki Haley.
The Order of the Silver Crescent is awarded to residents of South Carolina for exemplary performance, contribution and achievement within the community.
It is the state’s highest award for volunteer and/or community service.
The award recognized Hartsock for his leadership in the field of orthopaedic surgery at MUSC.

Taylor Day Owen joins Pleasant Family Dentistry as the front desk greeter. She started on Jan. 2, The doctors, Jackowski and Johnson, created her role to better serve patients while they are in the office. Owen graduated from Stratford High School in 2011. During high school, she participated in a Health Science Program that allowed her to shadow a dentist office for two years. She is signed up to attend Trident Tech’s hygiene program in a couple of years.
Ronald J. McVicar, DO, FACS has joined the physicians and staff of Charleston Ear, Nose & Throat Associates, the state’s largest independent ENT medical group, which serves patients throughout the Lowcountry from 10 locations.
Until recently, Dr. McVicar was staff otolaryngologist at Naval Health Clinic Charleston, attaining the rank of Commander. He held similar responsibilities at naval health clinics in Newport, R.I. and Groton, Conn., after serving as Flight Surgeon at NAS Whidbey Island, Wash., and NAS Brunswick, Maine.
A graduate in Biology of California State University, he received his doctorate from the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific, Pomona. He performed an internship and residency at the Naval Medical Center, San Diego and completed the U.S. Naval Flight Surgeon Course in Pensacola, Fla.

Clifford has been honored with a REAL award in the pediatric category for his commitment to treating children in his own community and reaching children around the world who have little to no access to healthcare. The Real Awards is a first-of-its kind global awards program created by Save the Children and the Frontline Health Workers Coalition to develop greater respect and appreciation for health workers and the lifesaving care they provide globally, as well as in the United States.
Dr. Clifford is not only a highly dedicated pediatrician in Charleston, where he is a general partner with Coastal Pediatric Associates, on the Clinical Teaching Faculty at the Medical University of South Carolina and Chairman of Pediatrics at Roper and St. Francis Hospitals. Melanie Cason, MSN, RN, CNE, of Mount Pleasant and collaborative partner coordinator for HealthCare Simulation South Carolina and nursing instructor at the Medical University of South Carolina has been selected through competitive application for the year-long Leadership Development Program for Simulation Educators, the National League for Nursing’s initiative, designed for those interested in assuming a leadership role in the research or administration of simulation programs in nursing education.
The third cohort consists of 20 nurse educators chosen from colleges and universities around the United States and Canada. The 2013 group includes a simulation leader in Singapore. They will all study for a year under the direction of Pamela Jeffries, DNS, RN, FAAN, ANEF. Dr. Jeffries, the author of numerous scholarly articles on the subject and editor of the “Second Edition of Simulations in Nursing Education: From Conceptualization to Evaluation” (NLN, 2012), is a professor in the Department of Health Systems and Outcomes and associate dean for academic affairs at Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing. She is nationally known for her research and work in developing simulations and online teaching and learning.
Cason is a nursing graduate of USC, MUSC, and Drexel University. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Nursing. She was chosen for this program based upon her experience with simulation and her ability to work with other faculty in developing the use of simulation in nursing education. Cason has years of experience as a critical care nurse, a hospice nurse, hospital supervisor, and nursing instructor. She has been a recipient of the South Carolina Nurses Foundation Palmetto Gold Award for Nursing Excellence as well as the South Carolina League for Nursing Award for Excellence.
Following a nationwide search, the Charleston Trident Association of Realtors (CTAR) and Charleston Trident Multiple Listing Service (MLS) has named their new chief executive officer. Wil Riley, a Summerville native and an experienced realtor, broker and association management executive will succeed Terry Hyde Ketchem as CEO on April 1.
Riley’s vision is one that melds past, present and future: “Our association thrives under a CEO that understands the importance of our historical roots while aggressively seeking innovative opportunities for growth and development, one that will seek out products and services that will provide our members with the maximum return on investment for their membership. Riley will succeed Terry Hyde Ketchem as CEO following her retirement on March 31.

In addition to his expanding duties at the association, Wil is active as a parishoner and leader at St. Paul’s Church in Summerville and enjoys spending time with his family. He lives in Summerville with his wife Ann, an elementary school teacher and their children, daughter Logan (currently attending Clemson University) and son Walker, an accomplished soccer player.
Sanders practices in the areas of commercial law, bankruptcy, foreclosure, lender liability and commercial litigation. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in economics from Furman University in 2005 and a juris doctor degree from Charleston School of Law in 2012. While attending law school, Sanders was the symposium editor of the Charleston Law Review, as well as an active member of the Moot Court Board and James L. Petigru Inn of Court. He graduated with magna com laude honors and was selected for membership in the Forensic Club.
Prior to law school, Sanders played professional basketball in the Netherlands and coached for a brief period at Furman University. He now resides in downtown Charleston with his wife, son and labradoodle. During his free time, Sanders enjoys spending time with his family at the beach, playing basketball and working on various projects around the house.
J. Lewis Lee has joined SouthCon Building Group as Business Development Manager. Prior to joining SouthCon, Lee was co-owner of Access, Inc. providing waste management services to residential, commercial, and industrial clients. Originally from Columbia, Lee has lived in Charleston for 35 years following graduation from the College of Charleston with a BS in Business Administration with a Marketing emphasis.
Adamus Media, a design and advertising firm with offices in Mount Pleasant and Williamstown, N.J., announces it has hired Cassie Rinehart as a designer in its Charleston region office. In this position, she will work closely with the marketing strategy and creative departments on concept development and designs for both print and online media.
Rinehart has worked in the marketing industry since 2010. Most recently, she served as a senior graphic designer for the Charleston-based Threat Management Group, a global military and civilian defense and support company, where she led the creation of a new branding campaign for the company’s Products Division. She has also contributed her design skills as a freelancer to a variety of companies and organizations in the region.
In 2011, Rinehart earned a Bachelor of Science degree in graphic design from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh. An accomplished artist, she lives in Charleston.
