Give it up
Police were dispatched to the side of Mathis Ferry Road in regards to a suspicious woman. The officer stopped to chat with the woman, who was found in front of the fire station. She had several abrasions to her face and bruises underneath both eyes and contusions on her upper and lower lips. When asked what happened she began to speak unintelligible. She appeared to be intoxicated. When asked if she needed help she said she did not. The officer convinced her to walk with him into the fire station so EMS could look at her. She told EMS personnel that she had been beaten up by her friend.
She was transported to MUSC. She admitted to the officer who beta her up She said she was asleep next to the suspect when he woke her up and said, “give it up.” She told him, “not now, give me a minute.” At that point the man punched her in the face and grabbed her arm and twisted it.
She told the officer, according to the report, that nothing after that happened and she was able to get him calmed down and back to sleep.
When asked why she didn’t report the incident she told the officer it was only a misunderstanding and she didn;t want to get him in trouble. She also said she did not want to press charges.
The officer then went to the house and spoke to the suspect who said they got into an argument and the victim hit him first. He said that is when he punched her in the face.
The case was cleared because the victim declined cooperation.
