Kickin’ Chicken donates more than $20,000 to local charities
On Monday, Feb. 4, The Kickin’ Chicken held their company-wide employee appreciation party at their sister location Rita’s Seaside Grill on Folly Beach. The owners, managers and employees all came together for a fun and philanthropic event. Employees and guests brought canned goods to be donated to James Island Outreach, enjoyed oysters and southern fare from Cast Iron Catering and danced along to live music by local band Not So Serious.
The highlight of the evening included owners David Miller, Bobby Perry and Chip Roberts presenting checks totaling $20,300 to representatives from Camp Happy Days, Charleston Miracle League and Summerville Miracle League. The proceeds were raised during The Kickin’ Chicken’s fourth annual Month of Giving campaign back in November of 2012.
Kickin’ Chicken and Rita’s employees were also honored for their service both in and out of the restaurants. John Lewis, of The Kickin’ Chicken West Ashley, was awarded company-wide Employee of the Year for his steadfast service to his team members and Heather Rohrig, of The Kickin’ Chicken Summerville, was awarded Most Mission Oriented Employee for her continued volunteer work throughout the community. General managers from each of The Kickin’ Chicken’s five locations and Rita’s also recognized two team members from each restaurant for their commitment to the customer and the community.
Over the years, The Kickin’ Chicken has donated more than $123,000 to charitable organizations across the Lowcountry. With five Lowcountry locations and over 250 employees, The Kickin’ Chicken commitment to community through charitable giving and active participation is even stronger than before.
