Mulvaney makes Dean’s List at North Greenville

  • Thursday, February 21, 2013

North Greenville University has recognized Joshua Mark Mulvaney of Mount Pleasant for academic accomplishments by naming them to the Dean’s List for the fall 2012 semester. To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must maintain a 3.5 grade point average while taking a minimum of 12 hours.

TTC students recognized

A total of 11 Trident Technical College students have been recognized by “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges” for 2013.

Students were selected based on their academic standing, participation in extracurricular activities and community service. Selections to “Who’s Who Among Students” are made each fall by individual schools.

This procedure of nomination succeeds in highlighting the individual and diverse service to community and school. These are the students who enhance the positive image of the American students. Due to the variation of curricular and extracurricular programs at schools, each college is assigned a quota of nominees. This quota is carefully calculated to ensure a well-rounded representation of the student body. All nominations must be endorsed by a college’s faculty or administration.

The following are the 2013 “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges” honorees: Candice Bizzell, Courtney Coffey, George Dais, Aimee Erkman, Lerraine Haak, Yvette Hayes, Botlhale Johnson, Tara Lovato, Lynnette Morris, Peggy Stanley and Sherrill Wheeler.

Passailaigue earns Gold Star

Sean Robert Passailaigue, a graduate of Wando High School, was honored for outstanding academic achievement at The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina, during the fall semester of the 2012-2013 academic year.

Passailaigue earned one of the college’s top academic honors, a Gold Star. Gold Stars are presented to students who achieve a 3.7 grade point average or higher during a semester’s course work. Gold Stars are worn on the collar of the cadet full dress and dress uniforms and the summer leave uniform.

Passailaigue is a cadet seeking a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at The Citadel.

Gold Star recipients will be recognized during a military dress parade on Jan. 25.

The Governor’s School recognizes academic achievement

South Carolina Governor’s School for the Arts and Humanities (SCGSAH) recognizes students with the 2012 Fall Honor Roll.

Being listed for high marks is an achievement for these students. Although SCGSAH is an art school, it is known as a very competitive academic institution as well. The school is ranked in the top one percent of Newsweek’s “American’s Best High Schools,” based on academics. SCGSAH consistently maintains a 100 percent graduation rate with all students attending college or professional studies. Artistic potential, not high grades or test scores, is required for admission to SCGSAH, yet students excel in AP results, with an average 3.9 score, and the school ranks 3rd in South Carolina for the highest cumulative SAT scores.

Lizzy Rhodes of Mount Pleasant, who attended Academic Magnet High and majors in Music, made the 2012 Fall Semester Honor Roll for achieving all A’s and B’s.
