Students at Moultrie Middle School raised $275 for the Sandy Hook Fund. The MMS PTA matched the amount and sent a $550 check to the Connecticut PTSA Sandy Hook Fund. The students had a “Crazy Hat Day” during which students donated money to the fund and wore a crazy hat. It was a fun day for all and especially knowing that the money raised goes to a school which suffered such a tragedy. Students, teachers and staff at Moultrie Middle School send thoughts and prayers to the Sandy Hook Community.
The school also sent the following letter with the donation to the Sandy Hook Elementary School:
Dear Sandy Hook Elementary School PTA:
It warms our hearts to see the remarkable amount of snowflakes given to you in the wake of your tragedy. We were ready to send a box of snowflakes until we heard about the superabundance of snowflakes. Moultrie Middle School still wanted to show you that we are thinking of you and supporting you during this time of rebuilding. The students of Moultrie Middle School came up with “Crazy Hat Day” in support of Sandy Hook Elementary. Our PTA said to the students, “We will double the amount that you raise.” All donations go to Sandy Hook Elementary School PTA.
We here in South Carolina send our deepest sympathies to you and all of the families of Newtown, Conn. Please know that we are thinking and praying everyday for the safety of all children here in our great nation. Even though we are not sending snowflakes, we do send all of our love.
Courtney Buxton, president -Moultrie Middle School PTA
