The Wando baseball team faced the gauntlet of state contenders this past weekend in the I.P. Classic. The Warriors defeated Mauldin, but lost to Conway, Lexington and Greenville, playing four games in as many days.
Wando takes it 2-4 record to Bishop England Wednesday night.
The Bishop England baseball team is 2-1 following a season split against James Island and a win over Cane Bay. The Battling Bishops play three games in three days Tuesday-Thursday against Hanahan, Wando and Goose Creek.
The Palmetto Christian Academy baseball team dropped its first three games of the season by a combined five runs.
The Eagles lost their season opener against Porter Gaud, 10-9, and then fell to Dorchester, 3-2.
Palmetto Christian also played Calhoun Academy Friday and dropped that decision, 3-0.
The Eagles’ rivalry game against Coastal Christian Prep was played Tuesday night after the Moultrie News went to press.
The Wando softball team is rolling this season. The Warriors are 5-1 and have outscored opponents 46-14. Their latest victim was Bishop England Friday night, when Wando won 14-3.
The Warrior travel to Georgetown, Wednesday night. In the latest South Carolina Coaches Association state poll, Wando checks in at No. 10 in 4A.
The Bishop England softball team won its region opener last week with a 9-6 win over Academic Magnet. The 2A Battling Bishops are 1-2 overall, though, with losses to 3A Georgetown and 4A Wando.
Bishop England returns to region play Wednesday against Battery Creek.
The Bishop England boys lacrosse team edged Hilton Head this past Saturday, 9-8, to improve to 4-1 this season. Connor Canning scored three goals and added an assist. Christian Reinhardt led the team with two assists and he had a goal.

The Bishop England girls lacrosse team fell victim to state power J.L. Mann this past Saturday in its first loss of the season. On Friday, the Bishops beat Greenville, 20-7.
In those two games, Elena Bosco and Taylor Kennington each had eight goals.
The Wando boys lacrosse team routed both of its opponents during the Greenville Invitational, this past Saturday. The Warriors beat Woodmont 11-1 behind C.J. Andersen’s three goals. Then, Wando (6-0) defeated Riverside, 17-8, to continue its undefeated start.
Tucker Dodson exploded for seven goals, and Carson Horner chipped in four. Wando travels to Bluffton Wednesday night.
The Wando girls lacrosse team defeated Academic Magnet Monday night, 16-8. Allie Bucknam led the way with six goals and a pair of assists. Academic Magnet’s Hunter Leckonby had four goals and one assist.
The Warriors take their 4-1 record to Hilton Head, Wednesday.

The Wando girls soccer team is 3-1 and enjoys a long break before its next game. After a 3-0 win at Ashley Ridge last week, the Warriors will not play again until March 26 when they travel to West Ashley. In the 4A state coaches poll, Wando is slotted at No. 5.

The Bishop England girls soccer team (3-2) is No. 3 in the 1A/2A state coaches poll. The Battling Bishops rebounded from a 3-2 loss to Academic Magnet to beat Pinewood Prep, 3-0, this past Saturday.
The Academic Magnet boys soccer team remains the top 2A team in the state, according to the South Carolina Athletic Coaches Association poll, The Raptors defeated Bishop England in a penalty-kick shootout and then beat Summerville 1-0 the following night to start the season 2-0.
The Academic Magnet girls soccer team is the No. 1 team in 2A, but in the coaches poll, the Raptors are No. 2 because the girls poll combines 1A and 2A.
The Bishop England girls basketball team grabbed five spots on the Region 6-2A all-region team. Mary Harriet Moore earned Player of the Year and coach Paul Runey was awarded Coach of the Year.
Michele Boykin, Ellie James and Mia Kiernan were also recognized on the team.
On the boys side, Jacob Vecchiolla and B.J. Grevey earned spots on the all-conference team. The complete list of all-region players is available online at www.MoultrieNews.com/sports.
Three players from the Palmetto Christian Academy girls basketball team represented the South All-Star squad during the North-South game.
Corey Caulder led all scorers with 15 points, Annie Pascutti had eight and Julia Strout added four.
On the boys side, Eagles’ J.T. Waters and Joe Siegwald were chosen to the all-state team by the High School Sports Reporter periodical.
