You don't have to be Irish to enjoy the bevy of green culture this weekend. Downtown Charleston is the place to be to kick off the St. Patricks Day Parade.
Photo's and event schedule courteous of Jimmy and Rosalyn Finnegan were kind enough to share the photo's and event schedule. Jimmy Finnegan is the Parade Director, and Past President and founder of the John L. Manning Division of the AOH, member of the SC Irish Historical Society and member of the Knights of Columbus Council 704. The parade is sponsored by these three groups in addition to the Ladies AOH. He has been parade director 16 years back from when it was just a few men marching to what it is today. The 2013 St Patrick's Day Parade booklet calls Jimmy "Charleston's Irishman of the people". He says the success of the parade has certainly bolstered the Irish community here in Charleston which has a deep and rich history here.
