Governor Martin O’Malley to deliver keynote address at SCDP Issues Conference on March 23

  • Friday, March 15, 2013

The South Carolina Democratic Party announced Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley as keynote speaker for the Issues Conference in Charleston on March 23. The SCDP Issues Conference is an annual forum with panel and breakout discussions on a variety of topics affecting the people, families and businesses of South Carolina

“As South Carolina continues to face high unemployment, a slow recovery and a rank of 48th in the nation in public education, it is more important than ever to hear from leaders around the country who are effectively moving their states forward. I was proud to ask Governor O’Malley to join the SCDP for the annual Issues Conference, and we are excited to welcome him,” said Sen. Vincent Sheheen. “Governor O’Malley has gotten results in the toughest of times and as a result of his leadership, Maryland ranks No. 1 in public schools, No. 1 in holding down the cost of college tuition, No. 1 in its region for recovering jobs after the national recession and No. 1 in innovation and entrepreneurship. That is the kind of leadership we are lacking in South Carolina’s statehouse and his presence will bring valuable insight and experience to our discussions.”
