Tezza elected trustee of Kiwanis International

Elizabeth Tezza of Sullivan’s Island was elected to a three-year term as a Trustee of Kiwanis International in June 2012 at the 97th Annual Kiwanis International Convention in New Orleans, La., and was installed in as a Trustee in October 2012. Kiwanis is a worldwide service organization of more than 8,000 clubs in more than 80 countries and is dedicated to serving the children of the world, as well as those in local communities. Tezza is a past president of the Kiwanis Club of East Cooper-Mount Pleasant and currently serves as the Kiwanis Advisor to the Wando Key Club. She has held a number of positions in the Carolinas District, including Lt. Governor of Division 21 and Governor of the Carolinas District, which has more than 190 clubs in North and South Carolina. She also currently serves as the Carolinas District Coordinator for The Eliminate Project, a project of the organization’s global campaign for children to eliminate maternal-neonatal tetanus.

Outside of Kiwanis, Tezza serves as the vice-chairman of the board of zoning appeals for the Town of Sullivan’s Island, is clerk of the vestry of the Church of the Holy Cross and treasurer for Cursillo in the Diocese of South Carolina. Tezza is a graduate of Ashley Hall and Charleston Southern University, where she received a B.S. in Accounting. She is married to The Rev. Thomas F. Simmonite, Jr. and has one stepdaughter, Sarah Simmonite. She is the daughter of Elizabeth Whitaker Tezza, also of Sullivan’s Island, and the late Hugo John Tezza.
