The Wando boys track and field team claimed three first-place finishes in the Mellow Mushroom Relays, held this past Saturday.
The Warriors won the 1600 meter run, high jump and pole vault. They also had athletes crack the top three in the 4x800 relay, and Wando also had a third-place finish in the pole vault, in addition to first place.
The Wando girls track and field team had six top three events in the Mellow Mushroom Relays: 4x100, 4x400, 4x1600, distance medley, 4x100 hurdles, pole vault and discus throw.
Pole vault and 4x400 were both top finishes for the Warriors. Wando hosts Goose Creek, James Island and Stall on Wednesday during its next meet.
The Bishop England girls track and field team 4x800 and 800 meter events in the Mellow Mushroom Relays.
The Bishop England baseball team survived a challenging three-day stretch this past week, defeating Hanahan, Wando and Goose Creek by a combined score of 32-4.
And, with a 4-2 win over Summerville, Monday night, the Battling Bishops defended their top spot in the 2A state coaches poll.

The Academic Magnet girls soccer team endured a tough win against Bishop England, March 7, and then routed its next three opponents by a combined 25-0 score. The Raptors' game against Garrett Academy was played Tuesday night after the Moultrie News went to press. Prior to the game, Academic Magnet's record was 8-1.
