The Mount Pleasant Exchange Club recognized former Mount Pleasant Chief of Police Harry Sewell as the recipient of the club’s annual Policeman of the Year award.

Sewell retired in December to become a chaplain.

“In a moving ceremony at the Feb. 27 meeting of the Exchange Club at Zeus (Grill and Seafood) Restaurant,” Mount Pleasant Exchange Club public relations director Sheryl Bidwell said, “Current (police) chief Carl Ritchie highlighted the many achievements by Chief Sewell as he was presented an engraved plaque on behalf of the club.”
