As it turns out, name calling is not against the law. But an officer was called to a woman’s apartment because her son was calling her names, according to a police report, and she didn’t like it.

The officer advised the mother that her 23-year-old son was not doing anything criminal. The tried to mediate the situation, however. And after talking to the son, he agreed to stay in his room until he was supposed to leave for the bus station.

Then the officers left. Ten minutes later officers were called back to the apartment. The mother told them her son came back out of his room and continued to call her names. She told police she just wanted him to leave. The son complied and packed up his belongings. Officers gave the son a ride to the bus station in North Charleston.
