The Most Reverend Robert E. Guglielmone, Bishop of Charleston, has appointed Patrick Finneran as the new principal of Bishop England High School located on Daniel Island. The diocese’s largest Catholic high school, Bishop England serves students from ninth through 12th grade. “With a philosophy of ‘enter to learn – exit to serve’, Mr. Finneran will instill in students the importance of high academic standards as well as service to their community,” said Bishop Guglielmone. “I have every confidence in his ability to lead Bishop England into the future.”

Finneran holds a B.S. degree in Management with an emphasis in Finance from St. Francis University located in Loretto, Penn.; he completed teacher preparation classes at Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio. Additionally, he holds an M.S. degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from the University of Dayton in Dayton, Ohio.

Finneran comes to the Lowcountry from Springfield, Ohio, where he has been serving as principal of Catholic Central School since 2010. “Bishop England has provided quality Catholic secondary education to the families of Charleston for almost 100 years, and it is humbling and exciting to join the faculty, staff, students, parents and alumni in providing academic excellence, athletic success and spiritual growth for all learners. As the new principal of Bishop England, I will work with the school community to build upon the tradition of quality Catholic education to all learners,” said Finneran.

He will assume leadership of Bishop England High School on July 1.
