Gowns for Giving helps sends kids to camp

  • Monday, April 1, 2013

Gowns for Giving is a fundraiser to benefit Camp Happy Days and will be held on April 19-20 at the Medical University of South Carolina Health Professions building.

The two-day event will feature hundreds of designer gowns, donated by national and international manufacturers and retailers, to please brides of all ages - and party-goers from pre-teens to debs and dowagers.

A preview champagne reception will be held Friday, April 19, from 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets for the preview are $20. Guests will leave with “swag bags” and have an opportunity to win numerous prizes. The private reception is an opportunity to purchase wedding attire, veils and accessories for those who wish to choose from the full selection of fashion treasures, including gowns valued to $5,500 from New York’s chic boutiques, all offered at the event in sizes 4-22, for $1,500 and under. A representative selection of gowns for formal occasions, in a wide range of colors, will also be presented; priced from $50 to $250.

The main event will take place on Saturday, April 20, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and admission is free.

The event is presented by Camp Happy Days and hosted by Santee Bridal and Formal and is partnered with a group of MUSC students in the Masters of Health Administration program.

All money goes toward helping send 200 children with cancer to camp for one week.
