Shrieks of excitement coming from pulsing neon lights on things that go round and round and upside down into the night are usually some of the sights and sounds of fall as county fairs and festivals are in full swing.
But they are also on the way this spring...to the Lowcountry Strawberry Festival at Boone Hall Plantation, and for the first time ever at this event in prime time.
The festival has always been a spring favorite for families who enjoy the combination of these delightful berries and wholesome fun on the farm. That has always been the main focus of this event and will always be.
But as this event continues to grow, Boone Hall has continued to expand and improve what is presented at the festival in an effort to engage more people in this annual celebration of one of the signature crops grown on the plantation.
As a result, the festival for 2013 has been expanded to be presented over four days including being open at night for the first time in addition to the normal daytime schedule.
The 2013 Lowcountry Strawberry Festival will run from Thursday April 18 through Sunday April 21 and will feature more than 30 attractions of different kinds and sizes for all ages. Spectacular rides geared for the thrill-seeker crowd will be part of the mix as well as a number of fun rides for families and children.
The event will also feature pig races, magic shows, vendors, a variety of festival type foods and of course, U-Picking of strawberries during event daytime hours. The festival is being presented in cooperation with the South Carolina Department Of Agriculture’s Certified SC Grown program and the town of Mount Pleasant.
Admission prices have been reduced from prior years in an effort to make this event work for the family budget.
$5 - ages 12 and up
$3 - ages 3-11
Ages 2 and under are admitted free with accompanying adult.
