Unemployed? Underemployed? Thinking about a career transition? You may not fall into any of these categories, but you know at least one person who is struggling with his or her employment situation. Anyone who’s been in this position knows how incredibly discouraging it can be.
ReStartSC is a volunteer group of Human Resource professionals and individuals from a variety of industries who are helping others work through this tough time. ReStartSC’s mission is to help people understand that God has a purpose for their lives and finding that purpose is what defines success.
A conference was held at Seacoast on March 9 with 150 attendees and all attendees had the opportunity to take a free assessment before the event. During the conference, sessions included taking stock of your strengths, creating a resume that will be read, preparing for interview questions and navigating the complicated world of social networking. Attendees not only walked away with head knowledge, they also found a new support system as groups will be meeting to support each other’s job efforts. The message was conveyed loud and clear: they don’t need to go through this alone.
As the small groups are starting to form, the leadership team is working on the next event tentatively scheduled for May to build on sessions from the March conference. To stay in touch with the ministry and find out ways to help, please visit restartsc.org.
When is the last time you explored your creative side? Have you admired other people’s jewelry and wondered if it was something you could do? Here’s an opportunity to learn how to bead-weave a bracelet in a relaxed environment. Using seed beads in a small group setting, you can create your own unique design to show off to your friends. The next class is scheduled for May 6 at Hobby Lobby from 1 to 3 p.m. and classes can also be scheduled with a group of friends in your home.
