  • Wednesday, April 3, 2013

Each week, the Moultrie News and Mount Pleasant Recreation Department will feature one local lacrosse athlete. Jack Patterson, 11, plays midfield for the U11 Lowcountry Hurricanes.

Question: Who is your favorite lacrosse player or team?

Answer: This is my first year playing lacrosse, so being new, I don't know any professional lacrosse teams, but my coach Ryan Grueninger played lacrosse in high school and college and is very good. So, I'd say him.

Q: If you could visit any city or country, where would you go?

A: I would visit Italy, mainly because it has lots of historic landmarks and attractions that I would like to visit and see in person like the Roman Coliseum and The Pantheon. And, I love Italian food, especially lasagna.

Q: What is the best moment in your athletic career?

A: I'm not sure, but whatever it is, I hope it hasn't happened yet.

Q: What is your favorite Mount Pleasant restaurant?

A: Either Grimaldi's for the pizza or Carrabba's for spaghetti.

Q: If you could be anyone for a day, who would you be?

A: I would be Tajh Boyd, because I think it would be cool to see what it's like to be the star quarterback of the Clemson Tigers.

Q: What is the best advice you have gotten from a coach?

A: “Effort counts.”

Q: What do you look forward to the most about being an adult?

A: Mostly I look forward to making my own decisions, and not being told what to do.

Q: What do you think is the most difficult and most fun position to play in lacrosse?

A: That's easy: midfield. It's hard because you're running non-stop the whole time you're in, but it's fun because you get to play both offense and defense.

Q: What is your favorite movie and television show?

A: My favorite movie is “Holes,” and my favorite TV show is “The Middle.”

Q: If you could have dinner with any three people, who would you choose?

A: Eli Manning, Will Ferrell and Brad Paisley.
