Thomas (Tom) Moriarity, PT, OCS for East Cooper Medical Center was recently honored at the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Innovation Summit in Alexandria, Va. Moriarity was one of only 17 APTA members in the United States to be selected to share their innovative practice models with their colleagues at this summit.
Moriarity was nominated by the South Carolina Chapter for his model “An Implementation of Physical Therapy Screens for Specific Populations in the Acute Care Setting.” Out of 55 chapters representing all 50 states, His nomination was reviewed and scored by a panel of APTA member experts.
The president of the Acute Care Section of APTA has asked Moriarity to write an administrative case study of this model for the Physical Therapy Professional Journal. In addition, he plans to provide ongoing information to the newsletter for the South Carolina Chapter each month.
