High Cotton hosts benefit for Communities In Schools

For the ninth year, High Cotton will partner with Communities in Schools for a special three-course lunch in honor of Administrative Professionals Day, Wednesday, April 24. Communities in Schools will receive 100 percent of the proceeds from the lunch.

Communities In Schools of the Charleston Area (CIS) is nationally accredited 501 (c)(3) nonprofit dropout prevention agency that surrounds students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. CIS serves approximately 10,700 students and their families in 23 public schools in Charleston and Berkeley Counties.

This annual event is held on Administrative Professionals’ Day to encourage business leaders to pay tribute to their support staff, while also supporting a vital local community organization. Last year High Cotton raised $3,975.

“Communities In Schools is honored to partner with Maverick Southern Kitchens as they assist CIS with our mission of helping students achieve in life,” said Jane Riley-Gambrell, executive director, Communities in Schools.

Executive Chef Joe Palma has created a celebration of tastiness with a three-course menu for the event. The lunch is $25 per person (gratuity not included). The full menu is included below and available online.

Lunch reservations are available from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Reservations are required and can be made online or by calling 843-724-3815.

Beverage: Coffee, Iced Tea or Water

Soup or Salad: Seasonal Gazpacho olive oil, herbs or Ambrosia smoked whipped cream, pineapple, orange and almonds

Entrée: Hanger Steak Frites red wine béarnaise, fries, frisee and radish salad or

Grilled Chicken BLT fried green tomatoes, bibb lettuce, bacon, pimento cheese or

Grilled Salmon Salad spinach, frisee, hard-boiled egg, cherry tomatoes, red onion dill caper vinaigrette

Dessert: Valrhona Chocolate Cake raspberry butter cream, strawberry or Grand Marnier Crème Brulee candid orange, vanilla whipped cream.
