New charter schools schedule informational meetings

flpsdfksdgjldkfjklfxgml;df A public information meeting will be held by charter committee members to discuss the August 2014 opening of a new public charter school on the Charleston Peninsula, Carolina Voyager Charter School. The meeting on Thursday, April 18, will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Arthur W. Christopher Community Center, 256 Fishburne St., Charleston.

Carolina Voyager Charter School will be a “blended learning” elementary and middle school that combines traditional classroom teaching with individualized instruction and online technology to meet the specific needs of each and every student. The school will open in August 2014 with kindergarten, first and second grades, adding a grade each year through eighth grade. There will be no tuition, admissions tests or other enrollment barriers.

Parents with interest in the charter school are encouraged to fill out a non-binding Letter of Student Interest. Letters may be submitted through the website or at the meeting.

A public information meeting will be held by community members to discuss the August 2014 opening of a new public charter school on the Charleston Peninsula. The Charter School of Musically Inspired Minds will serve students in grades 6-12 (opening with grades 6-9 in 2014) in downtown Charleston. The school will focus on a strong academic curriculum centered on the importance of creativity in preparing students for life in any field of work. There will be no tuition, admissions tests, auditions or other enrollment barriers.

Parents with interest in the charter school are encouraged to fill out a non-binding Letter of Student Interest. Letters may be submitted through the website or at the meeting.
