Charleston Restaurant Association to host annual membership reception

  • Wednesday, April 17, 2013

On Wednesday, May 22 the Charleston Restaurant Association (CRA) will host its annual membership reception at the Charleston Marriott on Lockwood Boulevard. The reception will be from 4 to 7 p.m. and is open to all returning members and anyone who is interested in becoming a member. The CRA will be on-site to discuss member benefits and the new membership fee-structure. Executive director Kathy Britzius says, “Our new fee-structure is designed to make membership easier and more affordable for our 500-plus members plus anyone who wants to join.” During the reception the CRA will also be holding a special, sign up and win. If you sign up at the reception you will receive $100 off your membership for the year plus a chance to win JetBlue tickets, IPads and more. There will be complimentary refreshments and hors d’oeuvres for everyone to enjoy.

As of last year, the members of the CRA voted to form an independent association apart from the state hospitality association. This allows for the members fees to be used for the interest of the Charleston membership and the betterment of the local industry. “Since breaking away from the state association, the CRA has adjusted their benefit structure to better fit the Charleston restaurants. We offer different membership fees based on the size of the restaurant or bar,” says CRA president, Steve Carroll. The CRA represents the food and beverage industry in government and public relations issues and serves as an advisory arm in daily challenges faced by restaurant and bar owners and their employees.
