At Guadalupe Grill it’s “all about family.” Phil and April Buehler and their eight children are the creators, owners and operators of this new Mount Pleasant restaurant.
The Buehlers hail from southern Arizona and chose Mount Pleasant as their new home. Their goal was to bring to the Lowcountry their Sonoran and Baja influenced Southwest fare. Using their family recipes and fresh, local ingredients they successfully provide a healthy alternative for Mexican cuisine. At GG they prepare for their customers the quality food they feed themselves and their own family.
Some menu favorites are Baja Burritos and Tacos with freshly grilled fish or shrimp, crunchy, chopped cabbage, pico de gallo and tangy blanco sauce. The Fajita-style Quesadillas and Burritos are stuffed with grilled onions, peppers and a choice of grilled chicken breast, carne asada steak or shrimp.
There are several menu options with careful consideration for patrons who like to watch their carbs or follow other diet restrictions. Everything is prepared in-house and to order, so you don’t have to wonder what you’re eating at GGs. Like any balanced diet, they do offer items that are special indulgences, such as their GG Dog. It’s a Sonoran-style, all beef hotdog that’s wrapped in bacon and grilled to perfection. It’s served in a soft roll and smothered in beans, pico de gallo, shredded jack and cheddar, mustard and blanco sauce.
Eating out at GG is easy and everyone feels welcome in the casual, order-at-the-counter, beach house atmosphere. “Every hour is happy hour” with $2 domestics and $3 Mexican imports and there’s always a game on one of the big screens. On Mondays kid’s meals are two for one. Need a meal to go? Call ahead and it’ll be ready when you are.
Located in the Sea Island Shopping Center next to the Piggly Wiggly on Ben Sawyer Boulevard, GG is a quick stop on your way to Sullivan’s Island or the Isle of Palms. Grab a beach picnic of burritos, quesadillas or fresh taco salads and don’t forget to include a Beach Bucket of their all natural and dairy free frozen fruit drink, GG Freeze. Guadalupe Grill is family centered and offers fresh and healthy Southwest fare with prices that’ll make you smile!
