Art Institute of Charleston opens fashion design program

The Art Institute of Charleston’s, a branch of The Art Institute of Atlanta, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, May 10 to open its first sewing lab and to celebrate the college’s new Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design program. The Cool vs Cruel Fashion Exhibit was on display featuring the national second place winner – Charleston’s own Evelyn Thompson student in the bachelor of arts in Fashion & Retail Management program.

Charleston Mayor Joseph P. Riley, Jr., was a featured guest. The event also featured designs from Charleston fashion designer and faculty member Ashley Martin of “Clewis Reid.”
