Chase After a Cure presented Dr. Jacqueline Kraveka at the Medical University of South Carolina Children’s Hospital with its annual donation. This year’s donation was $150,000. Representatives from the Medical University of South Carolina and supporters and volunteers with Chase After a Cure gathered to celebrate the donation that will support pediatric cancer research at MUSC, specifically Dr. Kraveka’s work on finding new and better treatments for neuroblastoma, which has one of the lowest survival rates. Dr. Kraveka’s research laboratory, housed in the Darby Children’s Research Institute, is the only laboratory in the state of South Carolina dedicated to translational pediatric cancer research.

Chase After a Cure was started in 2009 by Summerville resident Whitney Ringler and her family after her son, Chase, was given a 30 percent chance of survival after being diagnosed with Stage 4 neuroblastoma. Chase survived this aggressive form of cancer. Chase After a Cure supports families of childhood cancer patients, raises awareness about childhood cancer, specifically neuroblastoma, and funds childhood cancer research at the Medical University of South Carolina Children’s Hospital.
