Carolina Lady Anglers Fish for the Cure

  • Wednesday, May 22, 2013

To raise money and support breast cancer patients in the Lowcountry, The Carolina Lady Anglers announced its 16th annual fishing tournament, which will be held Saturday, June 1. The tournament is open to all men, women and youth anglers. Adult entry fee is $35 and youth, 12 years and under is $10. Entry fee includes tournament T-shirt, and food and beverages at the Captains Meeting.

The Captain’s Meeting, which will be held Wednesday, May 29, at the Maritime Center at 6 p.m., will provide anglers and friends with live music, buffet and beverages, and a silent auction. As in the past, a breast cancer survivor will be honored during the meeting.

The lady anglers will also be available to answer any questions about the club, monthly meetings or outings.

Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place eligible species, which includes trout, king mackerel, Spanish mackerel, flounder, sheepshead, ladyfish and dogfish. However, there will only be first place prize awarded for the dogfish category. In addition, outstanding male, female and youth awards will be given.

Design contest

Drawing from his personal inspiration and love of fishing, David Murray won this year’s T-shirt design contest. Murray, who describes himself as an avid-fisherman, is a self-taught graphic artist, printer, and TV and video producer with a passion to cook. Inspired by the fresh catches of the Charleston waters, this design will be displayed on the backs of this year’s T-shirts worn by anglers, sponsors and breast cancer survivors.

For late registration visit The Charleston Angler in West Ashley or Mount Pleasant or Haddrells Point Tackle in West Ashley or Mount Pleasant.
