  • Wednesday, May 22, 2013

South Carolinians and small businesses will see lower prescription drug costs under a new health care savings program.

he South Carolina Drug Card, sanctioned under the Prescription Assistance Program (PAP), can result in savings of up to 75 percent on brand and generic medications. The South Carolina Drug Card is free and accepted at all major pharmacies, including CVS Pharmacy, Walgreens, BI-LO, Kmart, Fred’s, Ingles, Kerr, Longs, Target and Walmart.

The S.C. African American Chamber of Commerce is partnering with the S.C. Drug Card to encourage people to use the cards.

“With much uncertainty over the economy and the future of health care, small businesses and families are looking to save every way they can and we are pleased to offer this card during the observance of Small Business week,” said Stephen Gilchrist, president of the S.C. African American Chamber of Commerce. “Whether you’re insured, uninsured or underinsured, the South Carolina Drug Card will result in real savings, and I’d encourage every South Carolinian and small business to request the cards before their next trip to the pharmacy.”

The cards are free and available at the South Carolina African American Chamber of Commerce and can be ordered by calling 803-661-2977 or (803) 361-9479. You may also request the cards by emailing the Chamber at info@scachamber.com.

All cards are pre-activated, so they can be used immediately.
