An email to Mount Pleasant Town Council members from Mount Pleasant Police Chief Carl Ritchie indicates that at 12:22 a.m. Thursday morning an individual was making a deposit at Bank of America ATM on the Isle Of Palms Connector. He was approached by an armed subject who robbed him of $671.
Mount Pleasant officers responded to the area and began patrolling for the suspect, according to a news release by Maj. Stan Gragg Thursday afternoon. Within 10 minutes an officer came upon two suspects matching the description near Rifle Range Road and Long Grove. He and another officer got out with the pair and began talking with them about the incident. One of the suspects fled on foot and after a brief foot chase he was apprehended.
The memo states that the suspect is a 17-year-old boy who lives in the general area. In his possession was a stolen gun and $671 in cash. They were later recovered by deputies. He has been charged with two counts of armed robbery, unlawful possession of a pistol and possession of a stolen pistol.
A bond hearing was set for Thursday.
