The Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission continues the 2013 Reggae Nights Summer Concert Series on Saturday, June 22 at James Island County Park. Gates open at 8 p.m. and popular local reggae group The Dubplates will take the stage at 8:30 p.m.

Charleston-based The Dubplates are a traditional reggae-dancehall band that performs featuring as many as 11 members, with up to seven vocalists at a time. The band started in 2002 as a DJ/vocal group called Dub Island Soundsystem, and in 2010, the band members decided to turn the group’s sound into traditional roots reggae, changing the name to The Dubplates. The band and its members have backed and performed with many major artists around the world, including Tanya Stephens, Zumjay, Steel Pulse, Third World, Yellowman, Big Boi, Too Short, Rebirth Brass Band and Ivan Nevel. On June 22, The Dubplates will perform on stage live on the James Island County Park meadow. For more information on The Dubplates, visit www.thedubplates.com.
