Farmer Jason brings show to area

  • Friday, June 14, 2013

Jason Ringenberg, a.k.a. “Farmer Jason,” the public tv show that uses music to teach children about nature and farming, is coming to Charleston in June. The television show won an Emmy in 2009.

He’s doing several daytime events for kids in the Charleston area from June 10-14, including the library on Mathis Ferry on the 14.

Interestingly, he was also founder/lead of Jason & The Scorchers (if it doesn’t ring a bell, was first “cowpunk” group of notoriety, early-mid ‘80s – energetic country/western with a punk-rock twist), and he won a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2008 from the Americana Musicians Association for his musical career (which is still ongoing).

Scheduled stops include:

June 12, 10:30 a.m. Dart Library, 1067 King St.

June 12, 2 p.m.: St. Andrews, 1735 N. Woodmere

June 12, 4 p.m.: Otrano, 2261 Otranto Rd.

June 13, 10:30 a.m.: Cooper River Memorial, 3503 Rivers Rd.

June 13, 2 p.m.: Dorchester, 6325 Dorchester Rd.

June 14, 1 p.m.: Mount Pleasant Branch, 1133 Mathis Ferry Rd.
