Uncle Sam Jam

Thursday, July 4, 7–11 p.m.

Mount Pleasant Pier

Come join our Fourth of July celebration at the Mount Pleasant Pier – an excellent venue for viewing area fireworks displays. Dance to live classic oldies and beach music performed by Permanent Vacation. Beverages will be available for purchase. Admission is limited; advance registration is recommended. Photo ID is required to gain entry into the event. A registered and paid chaperone is required for participants ages 15 and under. Tickets: $10 (on site or in advance), or $8 for advance tickets for Charleston County Residents.

Friday, July 5, 7-11 p.m.

Folly Beach Fishing Pier

Get ready for some shaggin’ on the pier. Let loose, breathe in the ocean breeze, and dance the night away to the sounds of oldies and beach music classics provided by DJ Jim Bowers. Beverages, food and snacks will be available for purchase. Tickets are limited; advance purchase is recommended. No refunds or exchanges. Photo ID required to gain entry into the event. Participants ages 15 and under can register for this course, but must be accompanied by a registered and paid adult chaperone. Fee: $10/$8 CCR Discount/$10 on site if still available; season passes available.

Charleston Sprint Triathlon Series: Race #3

Sunday, July 7, 7 a.m.

James Island County Park

This 23rd annual swim-bike-run event is the third of a five-race series. The race begins with a 600-yard open freshwater swim in the lake at James Island County Park, continues with a 12-mile bike ride through the scenic paved paths of the park and nearby roads, and finishes with a flat 5K run. Athletes may sign up to participate in one or all of five races throughout the summer. Fees start at $55 per race. Spectators welcome. For more information or to register, visit www.ccprc.com/csts.

Bob Bell Charleston Summer Classic Horse Show

July 10-20, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Mullet Hall Equestrian Center

The Charleston Summer Classics were the first horse shows produced by the Classic Company and laid the framework for the shows that would capture the attention of the equestrian community. Located at Mullet Hall Equestrian Center on Johns Island, the Charleston Summer Classics embrace the good life. A multitude of rings, great footing and permanent stabling greet show participants. New this year, Classic Company will host two Grand Prix in addition to its roster of hunter, jumper and equitation events that provide something for everyone! Reggae Concert Series: De Lions of Jah

Sat., July 13, 8-11 p.m.

James Island County Park

Relax and enjoy an evening of reggae music performed live in beautiful James Island County Park. Bring a chair or blanket and rock the night away to music by De Lions of Jah. Food, beverages and souvenirs will be available for purchase. Outside alcohol and coolers are prohibited. Advance tickets will not be sold. Gates open at 8 p.m.; music begins at 8:30 p.m. Fee: $8; free for Gold Pass Holders & ages 12 & under.

Folly Pier Fishing Tournament

Saturday, July 13, 6 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Folly Beach Fishing Pier

Join CCPRC staff for some fishing fun and good-spirited competition, at one of the largest piers on the East Coast. Prizes are awarded for the three largest catches in the Big Fish category and for the largest catch in the King Mackerel category. Pre-registration will end July 11. On-site registration will begin at 6 a.m. Prizes awarded at 4:15 p.m. Tournaments held rain or shine. For ages 3 and up; an adult chaperone is required for participants ages 15 and under. Movies on the Grand Lawn

Shaggin’ on the Cooper with The Sneakers

Saturday, July 20, 7–11 p.m.

Mount Pleasant Pier

Spend an evening dancing on the scenic Mount Pleasant Pier to live music performed by The Sneakers. Beverages will be available for purchase on site. Only 800 tickets will be sold for this event. Advance purchase is recommended. In the event of cancellation, tickets will be good for any 2013 Shaggin’ on the Cooper event. Series passes also available. Call 843-795-4386 for more information.
