On June 11, 2013, Isle of Palms Mayor Dick Cronin received the Barrett Lawrimore Tourism Award for Leadership presented annually by the Charleston Area Convention and Visitors Bureau. Acknowledging the work of long-time, late County Council Chair Barrett Lawrimore, the award is given to an elected official leading the region in tourism initiatives.
