Mount Pleasant Rec Department weekly track spotlight, June 26

Each week, the Moultrie News and Mount Pleasant Recreation Department will feature two local track and field athletes participating in the department.

Luke Pauldine, 12, participates in the javelin throw, 1500-meter and 3000-meter runs with the Mount Pleasant Track Club. Peyton Moore, 9, participated in the javelin and shot put events with the club.

Peyton passed away June 4, after he completed the questionnaire and before the time of publication. His family requested this be published in remembrance of his life and his love for track, as well as in recognition of Luke.

Question: If you could be anyone for a day, who would you be?

Luke Pauldine: Si Robertson, from Duck Dynasty.

Peyton Moore: Usain Bolt.

Q: What is your favorite Mount Pleasant restaurant?

LP: PF Chang’s.

PM: Five Guys.

Q: What is the best moment in your athletic career?

LP: Being a part of the Mount Pleasant Cross Country bantam boys team when we won third place in the nation at the 2010 USATF Junior Olympic Nationals.

PM: Going to USATF Nationals for javelin.

Q: What is the best advice you have gotten from a coach?

LP: “Surge the curves,” from coach Tami Dennis.

PM: It’s hard, but it’s fair.

Q: What do you look forward to the most about being an adult?

LP: Being able to do what I want, when I want to.

PM: Being able to run anytime I want to.

Q: What do you think are the most difficult and most fun aspects of track?

LP: The most difficult is running in the heat. The most fun is competing at track meets.

PM: The most difficult is the running intervals and the most fun is the part when I get to practice javelin and shot put.

Q: What is your movie and TV show?

LP: Movie: “Madea.” TV: “Duck Dynasty.”

PM: My favorite TV show is “E:60” and my favorite movie is “42” (The Jackie Robinson Story).

Q: If you could have dinner with any three people who would you choose?

LP: Si Robertson, Tyler Perry (as Madea) and Robin Williams.

PM: Usain Bolt, Ryan Hall and Paul Pierce.
